Once again back at the internet cafe for a brief update/check on everybody.
The last 7 days the internet/phone/ATM/everything has been down in this country. Kinda liked it. The Thanksgiving Gringos have gone back home so the island is really quiet. Our friends (we've met some awesome people here) took us on a tour of the island on Tuesday which was so amazing and very generous of them. They gots alligators here too!! Yesterday we went on the most amazing snorkeling trip EVA'. It was like being in an aquarium. I LOVE parrot fish, so cute and turqouis and friendly.
You can *almost* pet the fish they're that friendly. I did pet a shark though, he wasn't looking and wasn't too thrilled. No worries though, I still have 10 fingers and 10 toes - he was just a nurse shark.
I've discovered that coconut rum and club soda is good, but watermelon juice and vodka is better.
Going fishing tomorrow. Our last "real" day here. Going with a local guy out on the flats, hoping to get grouper and trigger fish. The fishing isn't as good here as Hawaii when we caught a bunch of tuna, that was better. But it's a gazillion times more awesome here.
The scenerey is amazing. Quaint. Quiet. But the locals are the best of the best of Good People in every way. The streets are sand, and for that matter the floors in most restaurants are sand too. And everyone has a dog and the dogs go to the bars and restaurants. I love it. There's a dog here in the internet place right now.
Speaking of pets. Here is Belize "if you catch it, it's yours." So far we met a guy who has a racoon, another guy who had a pet Boa, and a guy with a pet possum. Rob's been trying to catch an iquana or other lizard for his pet.
The greatest thing is that after just the time we've been here people wave to us on the street, know our names, stop their golf carts to say hi (everybody drives a cart, it's so fun.) But we haven't bothered to rent one. I think I've lost 10 lbs from all the walking and eating just grilled seafood all the time. Although, on second thought, all this rum hasn't helped.
But I'm happy. And very very tan.
Now I'm gonna attempt to catch up with everyone.
HUGS!!! Miss you guys!! (But I forgot my list of addresses, so I haven't send postcards. Not that I'm certain they'd ever actually get there if I did mail them.)
Oh, and not with the spell check or anything so sorry for any errors.
